Bodhicitta

Butterflies and Kites
Open to inter-being
You teach me to fly

Twilight

Your side of our bed aches
To feel the ease with which
Your long curves slip between the sheets
Your pillow bereft of your breath
No longer sighs under the weight
Of your head as your cheeks
Caress its feathered down
The fetid air yearns to be disrupted by your scent
As you gracefully turn over
Reaching toward me
As the early morning light
Seeps through the shuttered window.

Loneliness

The bleating of corpses passing by with
Dead words spoken from frost bitten lips
Linger in the air like vacant cobwebs
Their refrain silently torments

Dejection creeps stealthily, tiger-like
Through the moonlit bulrushes
As the lone cricket chirps scornfully
Amid the darkness of the night

That Look…

The look upon your face
The one you revealed to me
When I turned over the page
A new leaf of a new chapter
In the book of love

That look left an impression
So indelibly infinite even the
Stars would pause to catch their breath
How I long to see that look

Your eyes full of honeydew
Glisten in the twilight
Focusing intently on the beloveds
Captivated gaze, staring back
Into the mirror of her own soul

The distilled essence of that look
Would quell the mightiest storm
Yet ignite the most ferocious tempest
That look…
