I cannot see, staring in
The dark brings more light

Do you recognize these scars?
The darkness lights them up from inside
Bright as cherry moonbeams
Craters and pock marks
Some self inflicted, many undeserved
These wounds, you feel them too
Since you carried them for me
Across the healing waters
I wear them now as a badge of honour
They have become my greatest gift
For an orphaned world.

Transitory pain

A year of darkness
You keep me under your spell
But I’ll conquer death

My offerings of love towards God
Are a putrid stench of puss
If I’m unwilling and hesitant to
Express love to a human being
In the way that is required
For them to heal and grow.
